Haddonfield is a borough located in Camden County, New Jersey. As of the United States 2000 Census, the borough had a total population of 11,659. Haddonfield was incorporated by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 6, 1875, within portions of Haddon Township, based on the results of a referendum held that same day. The borough separated from Haddon Township as an independent municipality in 1894.

Haddonfield was the second municipality in New Jersey (after Cape May) to establish a historical preservation district. In keeping with the historic appearance of the borough, some candidates for commissioner distribute colored ribbons to their supporters instead of yard signs.

Although the sale of liquor has been forbidden since 1873, it was at Haddonfield's Indian King Tavern, in the winter of 1777, that the New Jersey General Assembly met and declared New Jersey a free and independent state.

Phaedra Trethan, writer for the Courier-Post, captured our historic pride when writing of the town's reenactment of battles fought in our state:

Haddonfield residents: Prepare for battle!

Well, a battle reenactment, anyway: On June 6, 2015 members of the “2nd Pennsylvania Regiment” — Continentals, for those who know their history — and members of the “1st N.J. Volunteers,” those loyal to the British crown, will square off on the streets of Haddonfield to re-create a Revolutionary War skirmish.

The soldiers and militiamen will make their way through town beginning at 10 a.m.; the battle begins at 1 p.m. in front of the Indian King Tavern on Kings Highway.

After the “shooting” ends, visitors can meet with reenactors at the historic tavern and learn more about what everyday life was like for soldiers of the time.

The free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Indian King Tavern and the Borough of Haddonfield. For more information, call (856) 429-6792 or visit www.friendsofindianking.org

New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked Haddonfield as the 100th best place to live in New Jersey in its 2008 rankings of the "Best Places To Live" in New Jersey.

Walking to our schools, enjoying our downtown, our iconic ACME food market, seasonal Farmer's Market and easy commute to Philly via our Patco Speedline are just a few things that make Haddonfield so loved.  How about our historic parks?

Pennypacker Park (32.27) is located in Haddonfield. It is bordered by Kings Highway, Park Boulevard and Grove Street. Hopkins Pond and Driscoll Pond meander up under Grove Street, opening up to the popular Cooper River where rowing events on a national level are fun to watch.  Camden County Freeholders have encouraged investment in our historic river and recent improvements include the Cooper River Boathouse, enhanced picnicking areas, landscaping and more...all to be extended into historic Camden City where the river begins, as part of the Delaware River. Even Walt Whitman was inspired by our vast landscape, here and traveling toward the shore points.

On a really historic level:  Hadrosaurus Foulkii Leidy In 1858, William Foulke discovered the world’s first nearly complete dinosaur skeleton. Located where a suburban Haddonfield street dead ends against the deep woods of Pennypacker Park, the site is listed on the NJ Register of Historic Places and is marked with a modest commemorative stone. Just beyond the stone the ground drops away into a steep ravine where the bones of Hadrosaurus foulkii were originally excavated on the eve of the Civil War.
